Family Class (Mixed Ages)

Informal instruction where children may or may not participate as they choose, and do so according to their developmental level. This class is freely MIXED AGES from birth to age five where the activities focus on adult-child interaction rather than child-child. Many childhood educators consider mixed-age groupings beneficial, and the process of music development throughout this age range is similar.

Babies Class

Squeals and giggles mix with favorite songs. Parents learn how babies learn music. There is no previous experience required, just a love of music and a willingness to have fun.
Non-walking babies only; crawlers are welcome, too!

Rhythm Kids®

Rhythm Kids®: the next musical step for your child (ages 4.5 and older), and their parent or caregiver, was created by Tom Foote and developed with Kenneth K. Guilmartin.

Rhythm Kids® guides children through developmentally appropriate music and movement activities where they begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative. Children develop basic rhythm skills while: making up their own drumming-chant patterns, playing music-based games, creating movement ideas for songs & even taking a drum solo. Class is available only to children 4.5 yrs...On Start Date of Class Session, and older who have already completed ONE Session of Family Classes with Foothills Music Together, preferably in-person. Children 5 yrs and older: no need for prior Music Together® Class

An exciting aspect of the program is its new curriculum content: approximately a third of the songs have been created especially for Rhythm Kids®. The additional songs, which were selected for their appeal to this age group as well as their learning potential, are from the concurrent Music Together Song Collection.

JUST ADDED TO THE Rhythm Kids® CURRICULUM: Now with our classes moving indoors we will once again have the "Musician Attended" aspect return to this older child class. Nine weeks of the 10-week session will have professional musicians accompany us as we sing, dance and play our djembe drums in class. There will also be a short presentation and a brief Q&A with the children re: the instrument being played in class.  This gives the older child the opportunity to not only hear an instrument live in class but they will get to know more about these particular instruments being played.  Instruments presented in our past "Musician Attended" Classes: Cello, Violin, Fiddle, Guitar, Double Bass, Mandolin, Dulcimer, Autoharp, Piano, Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute

Join us for the Tambourine Song Collection this Spring!

You'll learn twenty-five Music Together songs and activities you can recreate at home, including our first French-Canadian folk song, "V'là l'bon vent." Your children will experience the contrast between galloping, slowing, sleeping, then jumping up with delight to gallop again in "See the Pony Galloping." In addition to your weekly classes, your tuition includes recordings and materials for you to use at home, including an illustrated songbook and access to the songs through the Music Together app.
